The event, themed Meeting CIOs Expectations of ICT, was the second in Ajilon’s 3-forum sponsorship for 2009.
Geoff Howard, Ajilon’s NSW General Manager, gave the opening address to more than 100 guests in attendance, highlighting Ajilon’s role in delivering on CIOs’ expectations and demonstrating our leadership in emerging areas, such as Location Intelligence.
Panel speakers included CIOs from Komatsu, IBM and Servcorp, with the discussion moderated by Linda Price, EXP Gartner.
Robert Spinks, Ajilon’s NSW Business Development Director, said the panel speakers candidly shared their views on post-GFC spending and how they had taken advantage of conditions to plan and prepare for the recovery.
“Interestingly, none indicated that they had cancelled projects or initiatives, but simply reviewed their priorities. The quote of the day came from the Servcorp CIO, who, when commenting on the roles of today’s CIO and CFO, expressed his view that CFOs are ‘history writers’ and have no place in developing strategy!”
Robert said attendees at the forum were asked to complete a short questionnaire profiling a range of Ajilon’s service offerings.
“The questionnaires were about reinforcing Ajilon’s brand, predominantly in the Location Intelligence space. When we reviewed the results, were pleased to discover that slightly more than half the respondees knew of the services we provide, with some interested in hearing more about Location Intelligence, Program/Project Management, Sustainability and Environmental Compliance.”
Ajilon extended a prize as part of its questionnaire promotion on the day. Iain Barnfield, National Manager of Managed Services at Konica Minolta, was the winner of the weekend getaway for two at Sydney’s Observatory Hotel.
Ajilon’s third and final AIIA forum for 2009 is a CEO luncheon, to be held December 10.
