Watching the benefits flow

Our client, one of Australia largest state government utilities, manages a long running water monitoring program in partnership with another corporation and government authority. The program supports over 250 local community, school and other groups across the State who investigate and take action on water quality, as well as catchment and ecosystem health.

Within an extremely tight budgetary constraint, Ajilon was engaged to re-write the existing monitoring systems to improve data quality, achieve better reporting outcomes, enhance user experience, and to  strengthen existing functionality

Ajilon provided both the application development and data migration skills necessary to make this project a success.  The latest Web 2.0 technologies were utilised in the solution and a Content Management System was provided to give the Client the flexibility to change static content without additional external costs.

The benefits to the business ranged from greater community acceptance of the system, reduction in ongoing costs due to the incorporation of a Content Management System that allowed static content to be changed without external vendor support, automated flagging of potential pollution events through the implementation of a pollution boundaries flagging module to the application, better control of public liability risks and more accurate and easily available information.
